impart practical skills to students so that they can become change agents.
“…You need to teach your students in a practical way to help them cause positive change in their lives and communities,” said Little at Educate! headquarters in Kampala.
Little said this on Friday while closing a four day intensive training on Social Entrepreneurship instruction attended by over twenty participants.
He said teachers should utilize social entrepreneurship and leadership ideals in the classroom to provide empowering education.
Social entrepreneurship is the creation of innovative enterprises with a mission to make positive and sustainable impact on society and or environment.
Educate! is a US organization which, in conjunction with National Curriculum Development Center and ILO, helped write a new A-level entrepreneurship curriculum.
The curriculum is the first to feature social entrepreneurship; a relatively new and fast growing area of study and career path.
The training, offered free to selected people through a competitive application process, was intended for current and prospective commerce, economics, and entrepreneurship teachers.
However, teachers of English language and professionals from other disciplines benefited from the course.
Successful completion of the course was a requirement for potential job placement next year.
